Timothy Corum of Shepherd Rd, Oneida Tn, was arrested at approximately 20:17- just 10 hours after an attempted robbery of Southway Stop & Go, located off Hwy 27 in Strunk.

Video tape removed from the store was shared with law enforcement in surrounding counties when local law enforcement could not positively identify the subject.  Oneida Police Department contacted the Sheriff’s Office with a possible ID and identification in a photo line-up lead to an arrest warrant.  Working with Oneida PD, the Sheriff Gus Skinner and Deputy David Sampson of the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office went to the residence, received consent to search, found the clothing and gun used in the attempted robbery, and arrested Corum.  Interviews with Corum indicate that the motivation behind the attempted robbery was drug related.  Sheriff Skinner commented, “This store was hit twice in 2007.  They installed and properly maintained a video surveillance system.  Video footage can be the best eye witness in a case such as this.  The store owner’s efforts made it possible for us to make a quick arrest.”
