On July 21 a report was received of a shoplifter at Big South Fork Outdoors. A female subject was caught putting several items in her purse. When she was confronted by the owner, she pulled one item from her purse and returned it. The subject was asked for identification, which she stated was in her vehicle. The store owner escorted her to the vehicle and stood between the car and car door while the subject appeared to be looking for her identification. The subject suddenly started the car, slammed it in reverse, and hit the gas. The store owner was trapped between the door and car for approximately 25-30 feet. The owner was able to get the plate number of the vehicle as it left the scene. A suspect has been identified and the case will be presented to a Grand Jury for further action.


On July 20 a report was received of an assault on Bethel Road. The victim was transported to a hospital and required surgery for his injuries. The perpetrator was identified and the case will be presented to a Grand Jury for further action.


On August 9 a report was received of the theft of several items from the porch and yard of a residence on Holloway Cemetery Road. The theft occurred between August 3 and August 4. Items taken were a Stihl 017 chain saw, Stihl weed eater, Mantis tiller (red), and a push mower (red and black).
