June 12 a report was received of the theft of lawn/garden equipment from a garage at a residence on Gary Stephens Road. Items taken were:

  • Stihl MS 170 chain saw, serial 268158836

  • Stihl BG 55 leaf blower, serial 247996239

  • Stihl FS 75 string trimmer, no serial number available

The chain saw was later recovered and two suspects identified.

June 19 a report was received of vandalism to and theft from a vehicle on KY1471 East. The drivers side window had been broken out and a CD taken from the vehicle.

June 21 a report was received of the theft of a tractor truck from Pine Knot Lumber Company. The vehicle was later found burned on Vanover Ridge Road.

June 21 a report was received of a wallet stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at a business in Whitley City.

June 24 a report was received of a burglary to a residence on Bob Helton Road. Jewelry, cash, and keys to a vehicle were stolen from the residence and the vehicle the keys went to was also stolen. The vehicle is a 1997 Chevrolet 2500 truck, green in color, with a VIN of 1GCGK29R4VE207779. The vehicle had a Kentucky license tag 164-MGM on it and a picture of Jesus in the back window. The truck was entered into the NCIC system.

June 26 a report was received of a burglary to a rental mobile home on KY 1651 in Whitley City. The back door to the trailer had been pried open and a large hole cut in the bathroom ceiling to gain access to the copper wiring.
